This is a MDE sponsored, free 3 hour virtual Early Childhood Screening Developmental (ASQ:3) and Social Emotional Screening (ASQ:SE-2) Training. The training is open to any district and charter staff or volunteers who screen as well as staff who contract to screen (ages 3 to 7 year-olds) on behalf of districts or charters. Registration is limited to the first 30 attendees.
Goal and Learning Objectives: An interactive learning experience (with small group break out sessions) to learn and practice the skills to provide developmental and social emotional screening through Ages and Stages Questionnaires. The attendee will be able to:
1. Explain the purpose and benefits of screening
2. Explain the features of the ASQ:3 and ASQ:SE-2 and how to introduce them to parents/guardians
3. Explain how to score the ASQ:3 and ASQ:SE-2 including omitted items
4. Explain how to interpret screening results
5. Communicate screening results to parents including appropriate local referrals and follow up procedure
6. Practice introducing the tools, scoring, and sharing results in a healing-centered (trauma informed), culturally and linguistically responsive way

Contact hours: Upon completion of training, attendees earn 3 contact hours (CEUs). Must attend full 3 hours.
Trainer: Stefanie Middendorf, B.S., M.Ed, has over 14 years of experience working in the community, teaching, presenting, coordinating early childhood screening programs as well as other programs. She also has experience working in partnership with racially, linguistically, culturally diverse populations.
